WASHINGTON, Dec. 23 — The American military command in Iraq is now willing to back a temporary increase in American troops in Baghdad as part of a broader Iraqi and United States effort to stem the slide toward chaos, senior American officials said Saturday.

A list less than amazing...

The New York Times runs a list nearly every day honoring American service members who have died since the start of the Iraq war. As of December 7, 2006, the Department of Defense has identified 2,895 members who have died since the start of the Iraq war.
